ProcedureFlow Partners with Horizon Health via the CAN Health Network

ProcedureFlow is bringing its visual knowledge-management software into New Brunswick’s public health system. On July 11, 2024, the CAN Health Network announced a partnership that puts the Saint John company inside Horizon Health Network — first in HR Operations, then in the Clinical Trial Support Unit.

What lands at Horizon

ProcedureFlow turns dense standard operating procedures into guided visual flows: versioned, searchable, and meant to be followed in the moment rather than buried in SharePoint. CAN Health’s announcement frames the healthcare use case plainly — high turnover, fast-changing protocols, and the cost of onboarding people who cannot afford to guess which PDF is current.

For Horizon, that means a single source of truth for HR process and clinical-research workflows instead of tribal knowledge. For ProcedureFlow, it is a home-province reference account in one of the hardest verticals to sell into.

The company behind the flows

Spun out of Saint John’s Innovatia in 2015 and led by CEO Daniella Degrace — a Radian6 and Q1 Labs alum — ProcedureFlow raised $11.8 million in 2022 led by the Canadian Business Growth Fund, with Sandpiper Ventures, Build Ventures, BDC’s Women in Technology fund, Innovatia, and NBIF also on the cap table. CBGF lists it as a portfolio company headquartered in Saint John.

That raise was about global scale. The Horizon project is about proving the same product where the founders live — inside a large, regulated New Brunswick employer that every other Atlantic health-tech pitch would kill to name-drop.

Why this beat matters here

Saint John’s tech story often collapses to NBTel alumni and Mariner’s chequebook. ProcedureFlow is the software spinout that stayed: knowledge services incubated a product company, venture capital showed up, and now a provincial health authority is a customer. Pair that with the city’s AI-security bench and the port starts looking less like a one-exit town and more like a second cluster with its own product companies.

The next test is delivery: whether Horizon’s HR and clinical-trial teams actually run on the flows day to day. A logo on a press release is easy; becoming the system of record for how a health network works is the whole product thesis.
