C-Therm Launches Automated Thermal Control for Its Trident Platform
The Fredericton instrument maker’s new ATC accessory automates elevated-temperature thermal conductivity tests from room temperature to 300°C — part of a broader push into lab automation.

C-Therm Technologies has launched Automated Thermal Control (ATC) — a desktop accessory that automates elevated-temperature thermal conductivity testing on the company’s Trident platform, covering room temperature to 300°C.
The Fredericton instrument maker called it an official launch on LinkedIn on August 7, describing ATC as designed exclusively for Trident and built for fully automated runs rather than babysitting a hot sample cell by hand. The product page is live under C-Therm’s thermal automation suite.
What ATC actually does
Thermal conductivity numbers get harder — and more useful — once materials leave ambient. ATC’s job is temperature management: cartridge heaters in the sample-cell walls, fan intake and circulating air for cooling, and an enclosure that locks automatically at 60°C for safety. It integrates with Trident’s sensors; C-Therm says the accessory does not replace the instrument.
Company FAQs put the unit’s desktop footprint at 1,193 cm², about 34.9 cm high lowered and 53.3 cm with the enclosure raised — a lab-bench box next to Trident rather than a floor-standing oven.
Automation beyond the heater
ATC sits inside a wider portfolio C-Therm is pitching as the next phase after manual Trident workflows. Automation software links ATC to Trident for instrument control, data acquisition, and analysis. An Automated Sampler — built around a UR3e collaborative arm from Universal Robots — handles sequential sample placement to cut operator variability. The company also markets AI-assisted data sampling and regression as part of that stack.
Sensor compatibility listed for ATC includes MTPS, TPS, TLS, and THW methods on Trident — the same multi-method platform C-Therm has been selling into electronics, aerospace, automotive, and energy labs.
Why it matters in Fredericton
This is a different beat from C-Therm’s July TIM-testing webinar: not a marketing session, a hardware SKU. Headquartered at 40 Crowther Lane, the company is one of New Brunswick’s quieter deep-tech exporters — instruments and methods sold into the same thermal-management boom that AI cooling and power electronics are driving, without the venture-round cadence that usually fills this site.
Automating elevated-temperature runs is how a niche hardware shop tries to own more of the lab workflow once customers already own Trident. The open question is how fast ATC and the robotic sampler move from catalog pages into installed base.
