Sesgweg Wins Oromocto Asset-Management Pilot Through Planet Hatch MERGE

Sesgweg Software Solutions has its first municipal product win. The Fredericton firm was selected by the Town of Oromocto for RFP 010 — Municipal Asset Condition Assessment and Risk-Based Decision Support Tool through Planet Hatch’s MERGE program, founder Christopher Dedam announced on August 11.

The company says it beat a competitive field of more than a dozen proposers after written submissions and presentations. The job: help Oromocto assess municipal asset condition, evaluate risk, prioritize infrastructure spending, and support data-driven capital planning — using applied analytics, decision-support software, and careful use of AI against the town’s existing data.

Planet Hatch’s Capital Region account of the match calls out the same pairing: Atlantic Canadian tech meeting a real municipal problem through MERGE.

What MERGE buys both sides

MERGE pairs early-stage companies with municipalities in New Brunswick’s Capital Region. Selected startups get up to $25,000 to develop and validate a project, mentoring from a business development officer, Planet Hatch membership, and access to Ignite programming. Municipalities define the problem, run a competitive RFP, and take a minority cost share so they can try emerging technology without a full procurement bet.

That is the same track that put Cloudboids into a City of Fredericton permit-compliance AI pilot and SeaGreen Solutions into Queen Street planter trials this summer. Sesgweg is the asset-management sibling: less flashy than a building-code checker, closer to the day-to-day grind of roads, facilities, and capital forecasts.

Indigenous-built software from Cliffe Street

Sesgweg — a Mi’kmaq word the company glosses as lively, smart, active, hard-working, ambitious — lists its office at 150 Cliffe Street in Fredericton, in the Planet Hatch / Ignite corridor. Dedam, an Indigenous entrepreneur from Listuguj First Nation, founded the firm with cofounder and operations manager Chantal Martin Dedam; the public site frames the business as web, mobile, and custom software with a focus on Indigenous communities and digital transformation.

The Oromocto project is the clearest public product-market signal yet: a paid municipal scope, a named RFP, and a Capital Region first customer through a structured accelerator track. Dedam thanked Ignite, ACOA, and the town for the MERGE lane that puts Atlantic Canadian tech firms in front of municipal buyers.
