Profitual Partners With CharliAI on a Governed AI Path From Investor Readiness to Capital

Drafted with AI (Muse Wonder) and edited by NB Tech News staff. How we use AI

The Fredericton company's financial planning software joins Vancouver-based CharliAI's governed AI platform in a Decision Room that turns sensitive company documents into investor-ready analysis, forecasts and a route into investor conversations.

Closing card: a green shield with a checkmark beside the words Profitual + CharliAI, governed AI for investor readiness, from company data to capital conversations, announced Oct. 1, 2026, Fredericton + Vancouver.

Fredericton's Profitual has formed a strategic partnership with Vancouver-based CharliAI, the two companies announced on Oct. 1. The combined offering pairs CharliAI's governed AI platform and investor-readiness tools with Profitual's financial planning technology and investor ecosystem.

The idea at the centre of the deal is that a private-market data room should do more than store documents. The partners are building what they call a governed "Decision Room," where company information can be analyzed, connected and turned into investor-ready intelligence while the company keeps control over access, provenance and AI activity.

What founders get

The offering has three parts:

  • Governed AI investor readiness, from CharliAI. Companies can assess how prepared they are for investors, identify gaps across their business and supporting information, and generate investor-focused analysis grounded in their own company data. The release says investors now expect a clear account of market opportunity, business model, competitive position, operating assumptions, capital requirements and ability to execute — not just a pitch deck and a forecast.
  • Financial planning and projections, through Profitual. Founders can develop income statement, balance sheet and cash flow forecasts, test scenarios and clearly explain the assumptions supporting their growth plans.
  • Access to an established investor ecosystem. Participating companies gain a pathway from preparation into investor engagement, so the work done on the platform supports actual capital conversations.

A governance layer around the sensitive material

Investor preparation means handing some of a company's most sensitive information to an AI system: strategy, financial information, customer data, intellectual property and fundraising materials. CharliAI's part of the stack is designed to provide controlled access, policy enforcement, provenance and forensic traceability around AI activity involving that information. Its partnership page describes the flow the other way around: Profitual supplies the financial and business intelligence, and CharliAI provides the governed execution layer around it.

"AI can dramatically improve the quality and depth of investor preparation, but founders are also placing some of their most sensitive business information into these systems," said Peter Hickey, CharliAI's chief revenue officer. "That makes trust, governance and traceability fundamental. Our objective is not simply to generate another report. It is to give founders an AI-powered assessment they can understand, substantiate and use with confidence as they prepare to engage sophisticated investors."

The financial layer is built in Fredericton

Profitual's software helps founders and operators build financial forecasts, compare scenarios and understand performance. The company is a graduate of the NextAI accelerator and, Entrevestor reported, raised $1.2 million in 2022 and $1 million in 2025. It has appeared on this site before as a Fraser Student Venture Fund pick.

"Strong financial projections are ultimately a reflection of how well founders understand their business," said Raymond Fitzpatrick, CEO of Profitual. "By combining Profitual's financial planning capabilities and investor network with CharliAI's approach to investor readiness, we can give founders a much more complete process. They can identify weaknesses, improve the underlying business case, model what happens next and then take that work into investor conversations."

The partnership is a first step, not an investment. Asked by Entrevestor whether CharliAI or its members had invested in Profitual, Hickey said: "We are starting with a partnership," adding that Profitual is "an attractive company" and that the partnership is "a natural first step."
